Netflix will remove over 20 mobile games from its service next month, including fan favorites like Hades, Braid: Anniversary Edition, and the Monument Valley trilogy. This matters because many games are exclusive to Netflix’s platform, meaning they won’t be available elsewhere. If you’ve been playing any of these titles through Netflix, you might want to wrap up your sessions soon!
Most of these games will no longer be accessible starting July 14, though some, like Hades, will be delisted earlier on July 1. Here’s the complete list of games being removed:
- Battleship
- Braid: Anniversary Edition
- Carmen Sandiego
- CoComelon: Play with JJ
- Death’s Door
- Diner Out: Merge Cafe
- Dumb Ways to Die
- Ghost Detective
- Hades
- Katana Zero
- Lego Legacy: Heroes Unboxed
- Ludo King
- Monument Valley
- Monument Valley 2
- Monument Valley 3
- Rainbow Six: SMOL
- Raji: An Ancient Epic
- SpongeBob: Bubble Pop F.U.N.
- TED Tumblewords
- The Case of the Golden Idol
- The Rise of the Golden Idol
- Vineyard Valley
Netflix began offering mobile games in 2021, providing subscribers access to titles via the Netflix app on iOS and Android. Most of these games are Netflix exclusives, which means they aren’t available on the standard App Store or Google Play outside the Netflix app.
Earlier this month, Netflix also removed Poinpy, a critically acclaimed Devolver Digital-published game exclusive to Netflix. Devolver has since announced efforts to bring Poinpy and other Netflix exclusives like Katana Zero and Death’s Door back to traditional mobile stores as premium titles. According to Devolver’s spokesperson Nigel Lowrie, they’re working to make these games available on the App Store and Google Play “as soon as possible.”
Interestingly, some developers seem to have received little heads-up about these removals. Andrejs Klavins, lead designer of the Golden Idol series, mentioned on Discord that the delistings were “recent news” and many details are still being worked out. Yikes, that must be stressful for the teams involved!
Despite these removals, Netflix will continue offering a selection of mobile games such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Sonic Mania Plus, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. Plus, the WWE 2K series returns exclusively to Netflix mobile, tying into their live weekly WWE programming.
