Need for Speed: Underground 2 has received a new update with the release of the RTX Remix Mod v0.4. The update brings in new 3D models, improved lighting effects, and support for Intel XeSS.
The modder known as UncleBurrito has replaced all traffic vehicle models except the delivery truck, which is planned for a future addition. Sidewalks, walls, and grass areas have new textures, and traffic lights, along with many road signs, have been updated for a cleaner appearance.
Changes also include guardrail reflectors that no longer glow white, as well as new skyboxes created from scratch. These skyboxes enable the game to cycle between dawn and nighttime, replicating the original experience. New lighting has been added to fixtures and world assets, and all player vehicles now feature updated headlights.
Neon lights will finally be functional in this version, with cars showing shiny, reflective surfaces. Fog and lighting effects have been improved through Froxel Radiance Cache while lighting quality is further enhanced by Neural Radiance Cache, also referred to as GI and the mod supports RTX Ray Reconstruction, which is expected to further improve graphical fidelity.
