Following a successful campaign of teasers, trailers, and hype-building, NetherRealm Studios has finally dropped the long-awaited news. The closed beta for the rebooted Mortal Kombat 1 will happen from August 18 to August 21. Available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players, this three-day exclusive sneak peek offers an opportunity to experience the game’s universe before its official release.
The new Mortal Kombat 1 signifies a fresh beginning for the iconic series. Stepping into a ‘reborn‘ universe, fans and newcomers alike will get a chance to try out its new gameplay mechanics, like the introduction of Kameo fighters. The closed beta version will introduce six main combatants:
- Liu Kang
- Sub-Zero
- Kenshi
- Kitana
- Johnny Cage
- Li Mei
Despite its closed beta not being available to PC and Switch players, the whole game will be released for these platforms in addition to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The launch date is September 19, leaving players with a little under two months to gear up for this much-anticipated release.
Another key detail for potential players is the system requirements, particularly those on the PC platform. QLOC, responsible for the PC version of Mortal Kombat 1, has outlined the game’s minimum and recommended system requirements. The minimum specs include an Intel Core i5-6600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100/Ryzen 5 2600, 8GB of RAM, and either an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980, AMD Radeon RX 470, or Intel Arc A750. The recommended requirements include a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 3600X, 8 GB RAM, and a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, Radeon RX 5700 XT, or Arc A770. Regardless of specs, players require Windows 10 64-bit, DirectX 12, and 100 GB of storage.
