Monster Hunter Wilds fans got an unexpected sneak peek this week when PlayStation accidentally revealed the details of Title Update 2 ahead of schedule. The update, originally planned to be shown at the Capcom Spotlight event, is now confirmed to release on June 30, 2025. This matters because it promises to address some of the community’s recent concerns about content and performance, especially on PC.
The game launched strongly, getting praise from critics and players. However, lately, negative reviews have surged, mostly due to performance issues and a feeling that the content was a bit light. Maybe this update will help fix that? I’m curious if the new additions will win back some fans.
Thanks to the eagle eyes at Gematsu, we know that the update will bring back two fan-favourites: Lagiacrus and, likely, Seregios, according to datamines. There’s a new Arch-Tempered monster, Uth Duna, with a special event quest rewarding a distinct gamma variant armor set. I mean, who doesn’t love hunting tougher versions of monsters?
One cool new feature is the addition of Layered Weapons, allowing players to change how their weapons look without messing with stats or decorations. That’s a neat way to mix up appearances without worrying about gameplay impact. Also, there’s some extra content coming, including a Doshaguma Mask quest reward, a free gesture set, and some paid cosmetic DLC extras. The cosmetics might split opinions, but hey, it’s optional.
