Monster Hunter Wilds saw a wave of negative Steam reviews after its Final Fantasy 14 raid boss update launched on September 29, 2025, with many players blaming long-standing PC performance problems for the backlash. The crossover ad drew more attention to issues that players say have been present since the game’s launch.

In the weeks following the update, there were approximately 5,000 new reviews, with just under 80% marked as negative. The Steam reviews make for grim reading, and a lot of them start with fans saying they love the series but can’t recommend Wilds because of how it runs. Players quoted in reviews point to widespread crashes, jittery frame pacing, and degradation after updates.

Capcom has acknowledged the problems and promised a “multifaceted plan” to address CPU and GPU issues. If you play Wilds, this affects anyone trying to run the game on PC and fans who expected a smoother experience from a major franchise.
