YouTuber Blurbs has made Todd Howard the final boss of a ridiculous Fallout 4 mod. In a recent video titled “Fallout 4, but if Todd Catches You, You Die,” the modder replaces a creature with a cardboard cutout of Bethesda director Todd Howard that kills the player the moment it touches them.
The video leans into the joke by letting the cutout repeat Howard’s famous E3 line. Blurbs reacts to the cardboard model saying “All of this just works” and is stunned as the cardboard Todd slowly inches toward his Vault Dweller and ends the run with a single touch.
Blurbs even jokes with the cutout. Right before the fatal encounter he asks, “Are we about to kiss?” The snailified Todd bumps into the player and kills them instantly. The modder then taunts the figure with “Go back to making Elder Scrolls 6,” a line meant to needle Bethesda for its long silence on the next Elder Scrolls entry
The mod riffs on a long-running thought experiment about an immortal snail that slowly crawls toward you and kills you if it touches you. Blurbs credits that idea as the basis for the mechanic and leans into the slow, inevitable doom for the sake of the joke. A clip from the video shows the fatal touch and the obvious punchline: Todd keeps smiling as the player dies in an explosion.
