Blizzard opened the Midnight 12.0.0 pre-patch for North American realms today after an extended maintenance window caused by a last-minute transmog issue. The developer posted an explanation on the official WoW forums and said the problem needed investigation with realms offline before launch.
According to Blizzard, internal testing uncovered an issue that “could frequently cause saved transmog loadouts to be cleared, resulting in the loss of saved outfits and the gold spent on them.” The company says the bug stemmed from a quirk in live database configuration and did not appear in Beta, PTR, or other test environments.
Blizzard fixed the transmog problem and opened realms to the public, but two issues remain live and are being addressed.
- Charter Neighborhoods will remain disabled because they “weren’t able to start Endeavors properly,” while Endeavors should work as expected for other neighborhood types.
- Some commodities on the Auction House, such as certain profession materials, are not purchasable due to an unforeseen issue with the item-level squish. Blizzard says the issue is identified and a fix is expected in the next day or so.
Blizzard closed its post by thanking players for their patience and welcoming them into the Midnight pre-expansion update. For the official developer explanation, see the Blizzard forum post here.
