Microsoft is shaking things up with a fresh AI agent to help you manage Windows settings more easily. This new feature is exclusive to PCs powered by Snapdragon X processors, with a broader rollout to other devices expected soon. If you’ve ever felt lost in Windows’ maze of menus, this might be the change you’ve been waiting for.
The AI agent lets you describe what you want to change in your own words, like “how to control my PC by voice” or “my mouse pointer is too small,” and then suggests the proper steps to fix it. Even more remarkably, with your permission, it can automatically make those changes for you. Microsoft says this update will arrive through the Microsoft Insider program over the next month.
Why only Snapdragon X PCs first? Microsoft hasn’t given a clear timeline for when x86 devices will get the update, just that it’s “coming soon.” It’s a bit of a tease, but it’s interesting to see AI taking a more active role in everyday PC tasks.
Alongside the settings agent, a new “Click to Do” feature lets you perform actions like copying text from images, summarizing text, or removing objects and backgrounds from pictures without switching apps. It’s already rolling out with more options, including creating bulleted lists from selected text.
The Photos app also has an AI-powered “relight” feature, allowing you to add and adjust up to three virtual light sources in your images. You can change their color and move a focus point that all lights follow. This feature will also debut on Snapdragon X PCs, with AMD and Intel support coming later this year.
Paint is also getting some AI love, with a cartoon sticker generator and improved object selection. The Snipping Tool understands your intent better, helping you capture precise screen elements without tedious cropping. It also supports automatic text extraction and color picking from anywhere on your screen.
Microsoft’s update packs many AI-powered features that could change how you interact with Windows daily. You can read the full details on Microsoft’s blog here. Just remember, letting AI take control might be handy, but it’s worth keeping an eye on what commands you give it!
