Microsoft is working on an Xbox AI chatbot to automate support tasks

Well, it seems that everything is turning around AI these days, and Microsoft, the company that has been involved in this since the very beginning, is seemingly working on an AI chatbot for Xbox. This chatbot should automate support tasks with animations through an AI-driven character.

This chatbot will be trained and connected to Microsoft’s library of support documents and will be capable of answering various questions. It will help consumers troubleshoot common issues, help with game refunds, and more. As revealed by The Verge, Haiyang Zhang, general manager of Gaming AI at Xbox, confirmed the project, saying:

We are testing an Xbox Support Virtual Agent, an internal prototype of an animated character that can query Xbox Support topics with voice or text. The prototype makes it easier and quicker for players to get help with support topics using natural language, taking information from existing Xbox Support pages.

Furthermore, Microsoft is testing the potential of AI to moderate activities and enhance safety across the Xbox platform. The AI could also work on tasks and moderation, including assistance with games. Will this put multiplayer gaming in a better place?

Additional details are lacking, but overall, it seems like quite an exciting project by Microsoft. Will this help Xbox users in the long run? We’ll have to wait and see. What do you think about this, let us know in the comments below!
