Microsoft Flight Simulator has truly taken off – literally and figuratively! Since its launch two years ago, the game’s technical mastery and sheer scale have been remarkable. More impressive is how regular updates expand the already huge world of Flight Sim. A must-play for all fans of aviation sims!

Not only in terms of its heart-stopping visuals and realistic mechanics but also explosive player engagement. It’s reached an incredible milestone, having been played by 10 million people across Xbox, PC, and cloud over just 27 months! That pretty much translates to 500 million simulated flights taking off from virtual airports all around the world while clocking a total flight distance equivalent to circling planet Earth more than 800 times!

The announcement of the 10 million player achievement arrived from Microsoft Flight SImulator’s official Twitter profile, where the developer shared a blog post of player activities during the season.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is thrilled to mark another momentous milestone made possible by our tremendous community. Since the introduction 27 months ago of the latest version of Microsoft Flight Simulator, we have released 27 robust updates to simmers. All completely free! On 11 November, we celebrated our 40th Anniversary with the release of the Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition. And, today we are excited to announce that more than 10 million pilots have enjoyed the beauty, awe and wonder of the world available in Microsoft Flight Simulator across Windows/PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming and Xbox console.
