Today marks a significant moment for fans of the Metal Gear Solid series as new gameplay footage for the remake of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was released. Unveiled during the Xbox Partner Preview event, the trailer provided a fresh glimpse into what this revamped version of the iconic 2004 game will offer.

The trailer reveals that the game is being built on Unreal Engine, although it’s not specified whether it’s version 4 or 5. We get to see snippets highlighting the tactical and stealthy maneuvers the series is known for. However, it’s worth mentioning that the footage is labeled as “pre-alpha,” indicating that what we’re seeing is still in the early stages of development.

The trailer shows Big Boss navigating through various landscapes, including dense jungles, wooden bridges, and trenches reminiscent of World War II. While the trailer does not dive into the storyline, it does give a sense of the visual appeal the game aims to deliver. If the trailer is any measure, players can look forward to an attractive and well-designed environment.

The commitment to the original’s gameplay essence stands out in this initial reveal. Everything seems in line with what Metal Gear fans have come to expect: tactical gameplay combined with espionage elements. The trailer indicates that these core mechanics are not only present but have been finely tuned for modern consoles.

First announced in May during a PlayStation Showcase, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is more than just a polished version of the old game. This is a ground-up remake of the third installment in the Metal Gear Solid series, initially released nearly 20 years ago. The game is set in the 1960s and serves as a prequel, explaining the origins of the character Big Boss and laying the groundwork for the broader Metal Gear narrative.
