Capcom announced at The Game Awards that a new Mega Man entry, Mega Man: Dual Override, will arrive in 2027. The publisher said the game will release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. A short trailer shown during the broadcast indicated Dual Override keeps the classic 2D action platforming while switching to a cel-shaded visual style. According to the game’s description, “Mega Man returns in 2027 with a brand-new entry in the classic action platforming series.”
The announcement adds, “Override challenges and blast down legions of robots while springboarding across a new array of futuristic frontiers.” Capcom has also said it plans to grow Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney toward the status of core IPs alongside Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Street Fighter as part of a wider strategy to expand its player base and reach annual sales targets.
Capcom president and COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto discussed the company’s plans in a recent corporate report and said the publisher aims to expand brands through new releases, remakes, and ports to new hardware.
