Mastering Kyogre Raids in Pokémon GO: Top Counters and What to Watch Out For

A detailed guide on Kyogre's weaknesses, best counters, and moveset for 2025 raids.

If you’re eager to take down Kyogre raids in Pokémon GO, this guide breaks down what you need to know to take down this legendary Water-type. From its weaknesses to the best counters and the tricky moveset that can ruin your day, you’ll get the lowdown on maximizing your success and maybe snag that shiny Kyogre!

Kyogre’s Key Weaknesses and Combat Power

Kyogre is vulnerable to Electric and Grass-type moves, so bringing Pokémon with those types will give you an edge. The catch? Weather conditions matter a lot. Electric types shine in Rainy weather, while Grass types hit harder under Sunny skies. Keep an eye on the weather for boosted damage!

  • Kyogre’s CP ranges from 2260 to 2351 without weather boosts.
  • In Rainy weather, it jumps to 2825 to 2939 CP.

Depending on your team and the weather, you can even duo Kyogre if you have strong Electric or Grass counters, but groups of 3-6 trainers are generally safer for most.

Top Counters to Bring

Here’s a quick peek at some of the best Pokémon to crush Kyogre, complete with their key moves. I have to say, seeing Mega Sceptile at the top with Fury Cutter and Frenzy Plant makes me wanna dust off my old team!

# Pokémon Fast Move Charge Move Faints Time to Win (TTW)
1. Mega Sceptile Fury Cutter Frenzy Plant 31 540s
2. Mega Rayquaza Dragon Tail Dragon Ascent 32 616s
4. Zekrom Charge Beam Fusion Bolt 28 642s
7. Shadow Raikou Thunder Shock Wild Charge 43 594s
10. Mega Manectric Thunder Fang Wild Charge 47 613s

Depending on your lineup, a list of other solid choices like Kartana, Shadow Tangrowth, and Mega Ampharos can help. Honestly, it’s wild how many options there are, but those Electric and Grass types are your best bets.

Moveset and What to Watch Out For

Kyogre’s moveset is about water and weather control, with some nasty surprises. Its fast move is Waterfall, which can hit with Hydro Pump, Surf, and Origin Pulse. But the real pain is Blizzard — this move one-shots almost every Grass-type attacker, so if Kyogre has Blizzard, your Grass team is toast.

You can tell if Kyogre has Blizzard because the in-game raid recommendations won’t suggest Grass types. If it doesn’t use Blizzard, Grass counters are helpful, especially under Sunny weather.

Stats at a Glance

Max CP (Lvl 40 / 50) 4115 / 4652
Attack 193
Defense 170
HP 163
Weaknesses Electric, Grass
Strengths Fire, Ice, Steel, Water

Shiny Kyogre Availability

Yep, shiny Kyogre is in raids right now, and it’s looking pretty sleek. Don’t miss your chance to catch one before the event ends!

  • Regular
  • Shiny

Kyogre won’t stick around forever in raids, so pick your team wisely and keep an eye on the weather. Have you faced off against Kyogre yet? Which counters worked best for you? Drop your thoughts and experiences in the comments below.
