Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, the new brawler from PlayStation and Arc System Works, is about to make its first hands-on appearance at Evo 2025 in Las Vegas. This means you’ll finally get to try out the game in person and see how your favorite Marvel heroes stack up in combat.
The event runs from August 1st to 3rd, and Marvel Tōkon will be featured at the Arc System Works booth, where players can assemble teams of four from six characters. You’ll recognize some big names like Captain America, Ms. Marvel, Iron Man, Star Lord, Storm, and Doctor Doom. Additionally, attendees who give the game a try will receive a collectible pin inspired by the game. Cute little bonus, right?
Reed Baird, Senior Producer at XDEV, PlayStation Studios, shared in a blog post that this will be the game’s first playable experience since its announcement during the State of Play broadcast on June 4th. It’s kinda wild how fast this went from announcement to hands-on!
On top of just playing, there’s a Developer Combat Panel on August 1st at 8:00 PM PT on the Evo Showcase Stage. The Arc System Works and Marvel Games staff will be there to answer questions and discuss all things Marvel Tōkon. Can’t make it in person? No sweat. The panel will be streamed live on the Evo Events YouTube channel.
Kazuto ‘Pachi’ Sekine, the game director, expressed excitement about sharing the game and hearing feedback from players. He said, “The game is still under development, but we’re really looking forward to sharing more in our Evo panel, and especially for fans to try it out for themselves with the very first trial version at the event.”
He added, “My hope is to ‘Assemble’ with all of the players and create a great game together. We’re trying out many new things to offer a fresh experience. I can’t wait to hear your feedback and thoughts.”
Honestly, who doesn’t want to see how these Marvel heroes duke it out in a new fighting game? I’m curious how the team-based gameplay will feel and what new mechanics they’re trying out. Will it disrupt the fighting game scene or just be another Marvel spin? Only time and Evo 2025 will tell.
