Marvel Rivals is gearing up for its Season 2.5 update, dropping on May 30, 2025. This mid-season patch brings a fresh map and a brand-new character, Ultron, shaking up the hero shooter’s roster. Even though the player base has dipped a bit lately, Marvel Rivals keeps pulling players back with steady updates like this one.
Season 2.5 Release Date
The update is expected to launch on Friday, May 30, 2025, marking the halfway point of Season 2, which began on April 11. This timing fits the usual three-month season cycle. A leak from insider Miller Ross backs this date, but there’s always a chance of delays, so keep an eye out.
Ultron Joins the Battle
The biggest headline is the arrival of Ultron, a villain teased since the game’s launch and first spotted in the Season 2 trailer. After Emma Frost’s debut earlier this season, NetEase held off on releasing him until now.
While his complete kit isn’t officially confirmed, leaks suggest Ultron will be a Strategist with these abilities:
Weapon
- Encephalo-Ray: Fires a burning energy beam.
Passive
- Algorithm Correction: Hold Space/X/A to fall slowly.
Abilities
- Dynamic Flight: Fly quickly in the movement direction, then enter free-flight mode.
- Imperative: Patch: Command a giant drone to follow and heal an ally, with extra healing for the marked target.
- Imperative: Firewall: Summon drones that grant bonus health to allies nearby, centered on Ultron and the marked ally.
Ultimate
- Summon Ultron Drones to fire Encephalo-Rays, damaging enemies or healing allies.
New Arakko Map
Alongside Ultron, a new map called Arakko will join the Convoy map pool. It was briefly teased in the Season 2 announcement trailer and confirmed by leaks. In Marvel lore, Arakko is the darker, more aggressive sister island to Krakoa, home to mutants. Expect a much less welcoming vibe compared to Krakoa’s lush environment.
Additional Changes
- Hero buffs and nerfs
- Team-Up ability adjustments
