Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wraps Up with Final DLC Release

Over the years, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has been a staple for Nintendo Switch users, offering endless hours of racing fun. And now, it seems the end of an era is near. Nintendo is set to release the final set of downloadable content (DLC) tracks for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, wrapping up a series of updates that have kept players engaged.

The last batch of tracks and characters is coming on November 9 as part of Wave 6 of the game’s Booster Course Pass. This will be the final round of DLC releases for the game, concluding the six-wave plan. Here’s what players can expect:

New Tracks

  • Rainbow Road (Wii)
  • Madrid Drive (Tour)
  • DK Mountain (GCN)
  • Daisy Circuit (Wii)
  • Piranha Plant Cove
  • Bowser Castle 3 (SNES)
  • Rome Avanti (Tour)
  • Rosalina’s Ice World (3DS)

New Characters

  • Diddy Kong
  • Funky Kong
  • Pauline
  • Peachette

With the addition of these characters, the game will boast a lineup of 50 playable characters, not counting color variations.

Nintendo has been rolling out DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe over a span of time, and this final wave is the cherry on top. Why? Because for fans, it means one last opportunity to explore new terrains and challenges. For Nintendo, it’s a way to keep the game fresh even years after its initial release.

Remember the time when Mario Kart was just about Mario, Luigi, Peach, and a few others racing on a handful of tracks? Yeah, those days are long gone. The game has evolved, offering a wide array of characters, karts, and now, with these final tracks, an even more varied racing experience. From the classic Rainbow Road to the new Madrid Drive, the diversity in tracks is pretty neat.

While this may be the end of the road for new content for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the game itself is far from obsolete. The community is still active, and the game continues to be a popular choice for both casual and dedicated gamers. It’s reasonable to wonder what Nintendo has up its sleeve next. Maybe a new Mario Kart game altogether? Only time will tell.
