Bungie’s Marathon is due March 5 and its Steam listing now includes full minimum and recommended PC specs. The requirements lean toward older, budget-friendly hardware while the recommended list targets mid-range components.
The Steam page for Marathon has two clear tiers of specs. The minimum bar is low by modern standards, and the recommended spec keeps expectations in the mid-range bracket rather than pushing for high-end GPUs or bleeding-edge CPUs. You can view the Steam store entry here.
Minimum system requirements

- OS: Windows 10 64-bit (latest Service Pack)
- Processor: Intel Core i5-6600 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600

- Network: Broadband Internet connection
Recommended system requirements
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit (latest Service Pack)
- Processor: Intel Core i5-10400 / AMD Ryzen 5 3500
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2060 (6 GB) / AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (8 GB) / Intel Arc A770 (16 GB, with ReBAR on)
- DirectX: Version 12
- Network: Broadband Internet connection
The minimum choices are familiar. The Intel Core i5-6600 and GTX 1050 Ti are hardware from roughly a decade ago, and the 8 GB RAM minimum is lower than some recent multiplayer shooters. The recommended list also stays conservative with an i5-10400 and a GTX 2060 as reasonable mid-range targets.
That approach mirrors other recent multiplayer releases that aimed to keep PC doors open for players on older machines. The Steam hardware survey from December 2025 shows many players still run older setups, so a lower minimum helps accessibility. The Steam hardware survey is available here.
Marathon’s release came with a new cinematic trailer and a gameplay mix designed to show the sci-fi world Bungie is building. The game had earlier been delayed after its initial reveal, but the mood around the project has brightened with the new date and details. Marathon is available to preorder on Steam for $40/£35/€40.
