The details surrounding the release of Mafia: The Old Country has just become a hot topic, as its release date appears to have leaked ahead of any official announcement. Initially slated for 2025, this early insight has garnered attention on social media platforms.
According to Hangar 13, the development studio, and publisher 2K Games, this title marks “the start of a new crime saga” within the favorite series. Set against the backdrop of 1900s Sicily, players will follow Enzo, who escapes his childhood in the island’s sulfur mines to join Don Torrisi’s crime family.
While the game is officially scheduled for 2025, a recent blog post on Steam, now edited but still circulating online, suggested an earlier launch date of August 8. This information might have been intended for a reveal during PAX East, where Hangar 13 plans to showcase fresh gameplay footage.
Mafia: The Old Country will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
During its initial announcement, Hangar 13 president Nick Baynes expressed enthusiasm about the project by stating: “Mafia: The Old Country is a love letter to old-style, gritty Mafia stories where players can uncover the origins of organized crime.” He emphasized that everyone at Hangar 13 is dedicated to crafting an authentic and intense narrative experience that players can deeply engage with alongside Enzo.
This forthcoming title promises to cater to longtime fans while marking the first entirely new entry since Mafia III was released in 2016; previous games received Definitive Edition updates in 2020.
