Mafia: The Old Country is almost here for PS5, launching on August 8, 2025. Just ahead of release, the developers have shared some details about the game’s visual options on the console, which might make you rethink how you want to play.
The PS5 version will offer two modes: Performance and Quality. Performance mode targets an average of 60 frames per second, which is pretty much what fans want to hear. Quality mode, in contrast, prioritizes higher resolution and better visual fidelity, so it’s a trade-off between smoothness and looks.
Interestingly, there’s no official mention of any exceptional support for the PS5 Pro. The game’s PlayStation Store page doesn’t include the PS5 Pro Enhanced tag, so it seems like the Pro won’t get any tailored improvements at launch. That’s a bit of a bummer if you’re hoping for extra juice out of Sony’s beefier model. But hey, maybe the game runs a bit better on the Pro by default? We’ll have to see once it’s out.
Adding to the confusion, the latest gameplay trailer was recorded on a PS5 Pro, suggesting there might be some benefits, even if subtle. So why no official word? Who knows, but it’s a curious omission.
So, will you be sticking to Performance mode for that buttery smooth experience, or is Quality mode’s sharper visuals more your thing? And what do you think about the lack of clear PS5 Pro support? Let’s hash it out in the comments below.
