Madden NFL is making a long-awaited return to Nintendo after 13 years of absence. EA Sports officially announced this interesting news during today’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct presentation, revealing that both Madden NFL and EA Sports FC will be available on the new console.
An EA Sports spokesperson shared, “At EA Sports, we’re bringing fans together across the world, both on the pitch and on the gridiron. We’re excited to announce that EA Sports FC will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2. Madden NFL will also be arriving on the Nintendo platform.” This marks a significant milestone for fans eager to have football gaming experiences on this hybrid device.
The last time a Madden NFL game graced a Nintendo system was with Madden NFL 13, which launched on Wii on August 28, 2012, before appearing on Wii U later that year. Following this release, EA decided not to produce further installments for subsequent Nintendo consoles, leaving many players wondering if they would ever see their favorite football franchise again.
Over recent years, EA Sports FC (formerly FIFA) released for Nintendo Switch, players often felt dissatisfied due to missing features compared to versions available on other platforms such as Xbox One and PlayStation 4. For instance, when it first came out in FIFA 18, it lacked many elements found in its counterparts and played similarly to legacy versions from older consoles like Xbox 360 and PS3.EA Sports FC 24, which brought full feature parity to Switch owners alongside versions released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This trend continued with EA Sports FC 25, where even new modes like the recently introduced 5v5 Rush mode are now accessible to Switch users as elsewhere.
