FromSoftware is reportedly close to completing its next game, and it could be linked to one of its well-known series, such as Dark Souls or Armored Core. This leak arrives as the studio’s focus shifts post-Elden Ring: Nightreign, stirring curiosity about what’s next.
With Elden Ring: Nightreign out now, FromSoftware’s only confirmed project is The Duskbloods, a multiplayer title exclusive to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Hidetaka Miyazaki, the studio’s head honcho, has teased his next venture after Elden Ring, but details remain scarce.
A leak from MP1st claims the new game, codenamed FMC, might be ready by next year. The codename fits the pattern FromSoftware uses for its Dark Souls and Armored Core series, narrowing down the possibilities.
Despite Miyazaki confirming there won’t be a Dark Souls 4, remasters or remakes of the earlier titles could still be in the cards. Dark Souls 2 might get a visual upgrade, and with Dark Souls 3 hitting its tenth anniversary in 2026, a remake or remaster seems plausible.
Yet, the more likely scenario is a new Armored Core game. The series often sees spin-offs between main entries, and FMC might be a fresh release that reuses assets from Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. This could explain the surprisingly short development time and why it hasn’t disrupted other FromSoftware projects.
More content from FromSoftware is always welcome, especially if it revisits their favorite franchises. But honestly, wouldn’t a Bloodborne remake or a Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice sequel light up the fanbase even more? Alas, FMC doesn’t seem to point in that direction.
What do you think this mysterious FMC project will be?
