Leak suggests Fortnite Sidekick prices will match collab skins

A leak tied to an X post indicates Sidekicks in Fortnite’s Item Shop will cost 1,200 to 1,500 V-Bucks, matching the price range for collab outfits and drawing backlash over permanent customization choices.

Fortnite is bringing Sidekicks back next season, with the first one appearing in the Battle Pass on November 1 and multiple Sidekicks expected in the Item Shop from November 7. A new leak suggests they will carry the same price tags as collab skins.

We previously covered the return of companions and Sidekicks in detail, including the timing and how Epic is splitting releases between the Battle Pass and the Item Shop. Hence, the roadmap here is familiar but the pricing details are the headline this week.

The leak, shared on X, lists Sidekick prices between 1,200 V-Bucks and 1,500 V-Bucks, the same range collab skins commonly occupy in the Item Shop. Examples in the leak include Flopsticks at 1,500 V-Bucks, which is higher than the 1,200 V-Bucks price for the original outfit, and parity with a new Alien Xenomorph skin released the same day.

That price parity is stirring debate because of how Sidekick customization looks to work. Some choices appear to be permanent, such as a pet’s color, meaning players may need to buy the same Sidekick again to change that attribute. Two other facts bear repeating. Sidekicks could return to being earnable through the Battle Pass in future seasons, but last year’s Kicks releases leaned on Item Shop sales instead of being universally unlockable. Also, as with most leaks, prices could still change before official release, though items exposed this way tend to be accurate in numbers.

For context on the thematic tie-in, the first Sidekick is slated to appear in a Simpsons-themed Battle Pass on November 1, with additional Sidekicks appearing in the Item Shop on November 7; see our piece on the Simpsons crossover for the wider leak roundup.

What do players think about Sidekicks having collab-level prices, and about customization that might be permanent?
