Leader of The Forbidden Trove banned from Path of Exile, owner begged GGG to restore ‘more than 1,500 items’

The Forbidden Trove's owner, known as Jenebu, said his account held hundreds of unique items duplicated via Mirror of Kalandra and warned the Discord could collapse without restoration.

Grinding Gear Games banned a high-profile Path of Exile account tied to The Forbidden Trove (TFT), and the server’s owner, known as Jenebu, asked the developer to restore an account he said contained more than 1,500 items, including some that he claimed could never be recreated.

Players familiar with TFT said many of the game’s rarest items were kept in Jenebu’s stash because the server ran a community “mirror service.” In that setup, players temporarily handed their best gear to a trusted operator so their items could be duplicated using the Mirror of Kalandra, an extremely rare in-game crafting item.

The Forbidden Trove’s own catalog of rare items is publicly visible on its site, which lists the kinds of high-end gear that congregated around the service. The Forbidden Trove item index shows why so many players relied on a single trusted holder to run mirror jobs.

According to a now-deleted Discord message that was shared on Reddit, Jenebu urged Grinding Gear Games to reverse the ban or risk the fate of what he described as a 700,000‑member server and an account containing the disputed collection. The post is preserved in a Reddit of the owner/founder of The Forbidden Trove on losing access. In that message he wrote that the stash contained “more than 1,500 items, some of which can’t ever be recreated.” Players on the Path of Exile subreddit reacted strongly, with several threads praising GGG for taking action.

While the ban has reignited long-running rumors about illicit real‑money trading around TFT, there is no clear public evidence that Jenebu engaged in RMT, and many discussions have focused on trust and the risks of third-party trading systems. Some long-time players welcomed the enforcement move, while others warned that removing a single central trust figure could leave gaps in community resources such as boss guides and bulk-buy channels that lived on the Discord.

A recent update to Path of Exile made asynchronous player trading easier, which had already begun to reduce reliance on third‑party middlemen and centralized mirror services. With that change in play, Jenebu’s ban may accelerate the decline of TFT’s trading role even if the Discord itself persists for other community functions.

At the time of writing, Jenebu had deleted recent posts and made no public statements beyond the Discord plea that was mirrored on Reddit. The long-term effects on high-end item distribution in Path of Exile and on TFT’s future remain unclear.
