Layoffs Hit Rocksteady Again as Suicide Squad Support Wraps Up

It’s a tough time for the folks over at Rocksteady Studios. If you’ve been following the scene, they just let go of more employees. Yep, another round of layoffs has hit hard as support for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League winds down with its final season.

The news broke when Eurogamer reported that “half a dozen staff” confirmed getting laid off from various departments, including QA and programming. Can you even imagine how stressful that must be? The exact number affected or when these layoffs occurred remains unclear, adding to the overall uncertainty. Our team at CPG tried reaching out to Warner Bros. Games and Rocksteady but heard nothing back when this article went live.

This isn’t just a one-off incident, either! A few months ago, in September, the QA team saw its numbers cut by over 50%. Ouch! That’s gotta sting. And remember last May when Warner Bros. revealed that Suicide Squad‘s disappointing launch cost them $200 million in revenue? Yeah, I can hear wallets cringing from here!

The latest round of layoffs is part of a broader shift where Warner Bros. intends to focus on “strong” franchises moving forward—think Batman, Mortal Kombat, and Hogwarts Legacy taking center stage. At the same time, other projects fade into the background.
