Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released last Friday with technical difficulties on certain PCs. While everyone was mad at Infinity Ward, it turned out that Infinity Ward had nothing to do with these issues. Instead, they had been caused by Nvidia’s latest 526.47 driver. Infinity Ward and Nvidia instruct players not to update to this driver version or downgrade to one of the previous drivers.
This was confirmed by Infinity Ward in a recent update on MW2’s official Trello page, posted under the Global Known Issues.
- PC Players: We’ve noticed some stability issues with the latest NVIDIA drivers 526.47 on Call of Duty #MWII. For now, we’d suggest you keep the 516.59, or 522.25 drivers.
NVIDIA has also announced that the drivers released last week are causing game instability. For now, they recommend staying with driver version 516/522 for a smooth Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 gameplay experience.
Nvidia is still silent regarding its upcoming driver release, despite the player outcry. The only way out is to roll back to the previous driver version, or better said, uninstall the current and then reinstall either 516.59 or 522.25 drivers. The links for these can be found here:
Until a solution is implemented, these issues will likely linger, and so far, there’s no official hallelujah by Nvidia.
