If you’ve been slowly stacking up PS Stars points to grab some free credit on the PlayStation Store, you’ve got less than 24 hours left to make those points count. Sony is about to disable the ability to earn new points from your PS Store purchases starting tomorrow, July 23rd, marking another step toward shutting down the program entirely by November 2026.
For those not in the loop, the PS Stars rewards program has been gradually phased out since May 2025. Back then, Sony stopped letting new users sign up. Then, just last week, they handed out the final digital collectible for members to earn. Now, the curtain is falling on earning points from store purchases, account level-ups, and collectible rewards.
What Sony Says
“Current PlayStation Stars members can still earn Digital Collectibles, Points and level up their status until July 23, 2025 at 7:59AM PDT | 3:59PM BST | 11:59PM JST. After this date, there will be no new PlayStation Stars Campaigns available, or any additional rewards or status benefits to earn.”
Points you already have won’t disappear. You’ll still be able to spend those leftover points on the PS Store for a while. But if you’re short on points, tough luck—there won’t be any new way to earn more after the cutoff.
To put it in perspective, you need 1,250 points for £5 / $5 of PS Store credit, which you can spend on anything digital. Digital Collectibles go for 800 points, but the most straightforward way to earn points is by buying games and DLC from the PS Store. If you were eyeing something in the current PS Store sale, today’s your last chance to pick it up and earn those points.
What’s left of the PS Stars program is basically a ticking clock. The whole thing will shut down on November 2, 2026. Until then, you can spend what you’ve got, but earning new rewards is going dark.
So, what’s your move? Grab that game you’ve been holding off on, or just let those points sit there? I mean, who doesn’t want free credit, right?
