Larian Studios announced a new entry in the Divinity series during The Game Awards on December 11, 2025, and closed the reveal with a cinematic trailer. The studio framed the announcement as a return to the Divinity universe it launched before Baldur’s Gate 3. The last numbered Divinity release was 2017’s Divinity: Original Sin 2; Larian spent the intervening years focused on Baldur’s Gate 3, which the studio released to widespread attention prior to this year’s return to its own franchise.

The Game Awards segment made clear this is a fresh Divinity project rather than an immediate follow-up titled Divinity: Original Sin 3, and Larian did not attach full platform or release-window details in the trailer. The studio showed concept footage and a short cinematic sequence, then cut to a logo and the promise of more information later.
The Game Awards had several other moments during the show, including a Tomb Raider tease earlier in the broadcast linked to Geoff Keighley’s posts and social clues about the franchise. Larian’s move returns the studio to the series that defined its early years while it continues to support Baldur’s Gate 3. Fans should expect developer updates and platform details to appear in the weeks after the awards.
