Konami has recently announced its plans to expand its footprint in the gaming industry by establishing a new development studio in Osaka and constructing a next-generation Research & Development (R&D) center, scheduled for completion in 2025. This move comes in the wake of Konami’s renewed focus on AAA game development, as evidenced by its announcement of three new Silent Hill games last year.
The new Osaka-based studio, dubbed “KONAMI Osaka Studio,” is designed to emphasize a “Creators First” approach, providing an environment where developers can fully unleash their creativity. Located in OSAKA UMEDA TWIN TOWERS SOUTH, the studio will boast state-of-the-art motion capture equipment and sound studios, essential for top-tier product development. This strategic move aims to bolster Konami’s presence as a major production center in Western Japan.
In addition to the new Osaka studio, Konami is constructing a next-generation R&D center, “Konami Creative Front Tokyo Bay,” in Ariake, Koto-ku, Tokyo. This facility is set to strengthen further the company’s product development capabilities in the rapidly expanding entertainment sector.
As part of its commitment to employee well-being, Konami has been recognized as an “Outstanding Health and Productivity Management Organization (White 500)” by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Nippon Kenko Kaigi for seven consecutive years. In March 2023, the company also substantially increased its base salary for employees, showcasing its dedication to fostering a healthy and vibrant workplace.
By opening a new studio and constructing a state-of-the-art R&D center, Konami demonstrates its commitment to sustainable growth in the entertainment industry. As the company celebrates its 50th establishment anniversary, these strategic expansions set the stage for continued success in the next 50 years and beyond.
