IO Interactive is hosting its first IOI Showcase on June 6 at 6 PM PDT. This event will offer fans a glimpse at 007: First Light alongside updates on other projects. This event is notable since the studio has been quiet following Hitman 3 in 2021.
Since Hitman 3, IO Interactive hasn’t released games outside the Hitman series. Their last original IP was Kane & Lynch 2 back in 2010. The studio ended that dry spell by collaborating with Build A Rocket Boy on MindsEye, their new intellectual property.
Fans of James Bond are inquisitive about 007: First Light, which breaks a long silence for Bond games. IO Interactive teased that the game delivers the “ultimate spycraft fantasy” and features an original take on James Bond, not tied to any movies or actors. The game is planned as a third-person action experience with a standalone story.
How to Watch the IO Interactive Showcase
The IOI Showcase will stream on IO Interactive’s YouTube channel. The event will cover Hitman World of Assassination, 007 First Light, and MindsEye, and promises additional trailers, announcements, and gameplay demos.
According to IO Interactive, the showcase will also celebrate 25 years of the Hitman franchise, and they teased “some truly interesting surprises.” How long the stream will run wasn’t mentioned, so I’m kinda curious if they’ll pack in a lot or keep it short and sweet.
Which IO Interactive project has caught your eye? Are you most excited to see 007: First Light finally in action, or do you have your hopes set on MindsEye?
