Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is coming to Nintendo’s newest console, the Switch 2, in 2026. This announcement was made during gamescom 2025’s Opening Night Live and follows the game’s release on PlayStation 5 earlier this year. It’s interesting to see an Xbox-published game making its way to a Nintendo platform for the first time.
The move reflects a broader trend where Xbox first-party titles have been appearing on other platforms. For example, Forza Horizon 5 launched on PS5 this spring, and Gears of War: Reloaded will release simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Phil Spencer has expressed that keeping games exclusive to one platform isn’t part of Xbox’s strategy.
Earlier this year, reports suggested Xbox games might arrive on the Switch 2 within 2025. Looks like it will take until 2026 instead. It makes me wonder how many other Xbox titles might follow. Could Gears of War: Reloaded be one of them? Or maybe Forza Horizon 5 and Sea of Thieves will join the lineup too.
There’s also talk about Sony expanding its first-party games beyond PlayStation hardware. A recent job listing mentioned plans to bring PlayStation Studios games to platforms like Steam, Xbox, Nintendo, and mobile. It’s a bit surprising since Nintendo usually sticks with console exclusives, but maybe the Switch 2 will be a little different.
Will this open the door for more collaboration between these big players? Yikes, that would be something. For now, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be the trailblazer on Switch 2, and I’m curious to see if others will follow.
