Megabonk ships with 20 characters, 18 of which are unlockable. If you want every face in the roster, you will do a mix of in-run challenges and purchases from the unlock shop after earning silver coins. The game has retro-inspired visuals and a playful sense of humor, and it launched on PC on September 18, 2025.

Most unlocks require you to complete a challenge in-game and then buy the associated weapon or item from the unlock store using silver coins. You earn silver coins at the end of runs, based on your performance and any modifiers you had active. Below is the full list of characters, along with instructions on how to unlock each one.

Character Unlock method
Fox Available from the start of the game
Sir Oofie Available from the start of the game
Calcium Kill 10,000 skeletons
Megachad Get the Damage Tome to level 7, buy the Aura weapon
Ogre Kill 15,000 Goblins, buy the Axe weapon
CL4NK Complete Forest Tier 1, buy the Revolver weapon
Athena Get the Thorns Tome to level 9, buy the Aegis weapon
Robinette Complete Forest Tier 2
Monke Find and release Monke in the Forest, buy the Bananarang weapon
Tony McZoom Complete 2 Challenges, buy the Wireless Dagger weapon
Bush Find and defeat Bush in the Forest, buy the Sniper Rifle weapon
Birdo Kill 100 enemies using the Tornado weapon while carried by a tornado on the Desert level, buy the Tornado weapon
Noelle Use a Microwave to duplicate Ice Crystal 3 times in a row, buy the Frostwalker weapon
Amog Poison 50,000 enemies with Moldy Cheese, buy the Poison Flash weapon
Spaceman Complete 6 Challenges, buy the Black Hole weapon
Bandit Find and defeat Bandit on the Desert level, buy the Dexecutioner weapon
Ninja Complete Desert Tier 1, buy the Katana weapon
Vlad Complete Desert Tier 2, buy the Blood Magic weapon
Sir Chadwell Complete Forest Tier 3, buy the Corrupted Sword weapon
Dicehead Complete 100 Quests, buy the Dice weapon

Most of these goals come naturally as you play, though some will take longer than others. A few require exploration and a willingness to tackle more challenging fights. For example, finding Bush means not only locating him but surviving his high health and strong attacks.

Megabonk is available on Steam and is verified for use on Steam Deck. You can find it on the Steam store here, and the game lists PC as its platform on the official page. If you want to collect everyone, play runs that build the relevant tomes and weapons, chase the specific challenges listed above, and spend your hard-earned silver coins in the unlock shop. Take it slow and enjoy the process.
