How Resident Evil 9’s Massive Budget Could Change the Game

Capcom seems to pull out all the stops for the next Resident Evil installment. According to insider Dusk Golem, the game’s budget is the largest ever for the series. So, what does this mean for Resident Evil fans and the franchise itself?

Dusk Golem has been pretty vocal on Discord (via Insider-Gaming), sharing that Resident Evil 9 is shaping up to be the most expensive and substantial entry in the franchise. The game has been developing since 2018 and is set to launch around 2025. Interestingly, this could also be the last numbered title, signaling that big changes are on the horizon.

The series has been on a roll since Resident Evil 7 came out in 2017. Since then, there have only been two years without new releases: 2018 and 2022. With a 2025 release date for Resident Evil 9, fans might wonder how Capcom plans to keep momentum. They’ve hinted at releasing a significant yet unnamed, title before April, possibly a new Monster Hunter game. But how will this all fit together in Capcom’s larger game plan?

We still have to wait until 2025 to see if the big-budget pays off for Resident Evil 9. However, one thing is sure: Capcom is betting a lot on this game. Whether this gamble pays off in terms of quality and player satisfaction, only time will tell. But for now, the increased budget strongly signals that the company wants to bring something extraordinary.
