Wildlight announced on March 3, 2026 that it will permanently shut down Highguard on March 12, 2026. The studio said servers will remain online through that date so players can jump in for final matches. The company thanked the community and noted that more than 2 million players have tried Highguard since launch. Wildlight said the team appreciates the feedback, content, and support players brought to the game.
Despite that support, Wildlight said it was unable to sustain a long term player base for Highguard. As part of winding down the live service, the developer plans to release one final update during the game’s remaining life. The update will add a new Warden, a new weapon, account level progression, and skill trees. The studio said full patch notes are coming and targeted the patch release for March 3, 2026 or the morning of March 4, 2026.
The studio’s closure announcement arrives after a string of recent developments around the game. Wildlight laid off most of its staff in early February. The team continued to push updates, including a February 26 update that added a round-based mode called Raid Rush alongside weapon tuning and other fixes
Wildlight closed its message by thanking players for supporting the title and for being part of Highguard’s story. Share your favorite final Warden plays or last match moments in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram.
