Hideo Kojima is back with a new project called Physint, and get this, he’s working on it all by himself. This new action espionage game is said to be a spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid, if Death Stranding 2 isn’t already filling that spot. Fans have been waiting for Kojima to go back into the stealth-action genre, and now it seems he’s quietly crafting something fresh from the ground up.
Physint is still in the conceptual phase, so details are super scarce. Kojima shared in a recent Indie Wire interview that he’s handling the project solo right now. Yup, no big team behind him at this stage, just Kojima and his ideas. That’s kinda wild when you think about the scope his games usually have.
After parting ways with Konami and the Metal Gear series over ten years ago, Kojima has been on a journey of his own. He recently laughed off questions about playing the Snake Eater remake, which shows he’s clearly moving forward.
Many expect Physint to land on whatever the next PlayStation console will be, probably the PlayStation 6, since Sony seems to be sticking with their numbering system. Does anyone really want a wild new console name? Guess not.
Alongside Physint, Kojima is still involved with the ongoing development of Overdose (OD) and supporting Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, which just launched and is already turning heads. The man is juggling quite a bit, but the fact that he’s conceptualizing Physint solo shows how personal this project might be.
Sometimes the first step is just dreaming up the idea, and here’s Kojima, cooking up a concept only he can dream of. I’m curious, do you think this solo approach will bring something totally fresh or will it feel too isolated? What do you reckon?
