Here’s Everything You Need to Know About Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Hardcore Mode

The upcoming Hardcore Mode promises a tougher challenge for players in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 launched in February 2025, and fans are raving about this open-world medieval RPG, which has quickly climbed the ranks to become one of the year’s standout titles. Warhorse Studios is gearing up to roll out updates and expansions that will take the game to another level.

One of the most talked-about additions is Hardcore Mode, which aims to ramp up the difficulty further. If you’ve mastered the game, prepare for a real test! Let’s break down everything we know about Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Hardcore Mode.

From the start, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 doesn’t pull any punches. It can be pretty punishing until you level up your character. The realistic design means combat is no joke, diseases lurk around every corner, and failing a speech check could lead to serious trouble (hello, lynch mobs!). Welcome to medieval Bohemia!

In February 2025, Warhorse Studios announced that Hardcore Mode would be coming to the game later this year. With that said, the Hardcore Mode will:

  • Remove most of the UI
  • Eliminate your player icon from the map so you’ll have no idea where you are
  • Lock fast travel, forcing you to ride or walk everywhere
  • Introduce various ‘negative perks’ that will change your gameplay dramatically
  • Take away cardinal directions from the compass
  • Toughen up enemies
  • Make debuffs like hunger and fatigue more impactful

You’ll recognize many of these elements if you played the first installment in 2018 and enjoyed its Hardcore Mode. If you’re feeling brave or want to put your skills to the test, you might want to give it a shot! Personally? I will probably stick with my regular mode because who needs that stress?
