Fortnite’s Chapter 6 Season 4: Shock ‘N Great has players battling a swarm of burrowing bugs, and the team behind Helldivers couldn’t help but notice the similarities. Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani, known for his love of insect-themed gameplay, weighed in on the new season’s vibe.
The Shock ‘N great season packs a punch with fresh skins, weapons, and gear made for taking down bug hordes as part of the O.X.R. anti-bug military force. It’s hard not to see the parallels with Helldivers, but no official crossover has been announced yet. When asked about the season, Jorjani said it “feels very democratic,” which is kinda cryptic but cool.
Fans hope for a proper collab someday, and community manager Katherine Baskin was asked if Fortnite’s bug invasion might hurt Helldivers player numbers. She wasn’t worried, saying, “Fortnite is Fortnite, Helldivers is Helldivers. If the kings of video game drip think our drip is cool enough to… inspire them… then that’s super cool. But our games couldn’t be more different from one another. There’s room for us all at the king’s table.”
Speaking of drip, the Shock ‘N great Battlepass is loaded with fresh skins like UNSC Spartan, Yoo-mi, Agent Patch, Battle Gamer Mae, Lt. Ripp Slade, Onyx Winter, and Green Ranger. Fortnite keeps pushing out themed content, including concerts and collabs. Maybe a Helldivers skin or enemy could show up? Fans are hoping so, with one comment on the launch trailer asking, “So who else thinks Super Earth should deploy some Helldivers for this bug infestation?”
Fortnite has also brought in the Power Rangers, so blasting bugs looks stylish. Epic Games plans to add new vehicles like a Roly Poly bug for rolling around and a heavy-duty aerial ride later in the season. The season just started, but leaks hint at proximity chat and pets arriving soon.
