Helldivers 2 is preparing for its Xbox Series X/S debut on August 26, and fans might get a surprise crossover with Halo. The latest trailer mostly shows classic Helldivers action, explosions, shooting, and chaos, but the ending hints at something special connected to Halo 3.
Tom Warren spotted a drop pod landing in a rainy cityscape with background music straight from the Halo 3: ODST expansion. Since Halo is a Microsoft property and Helldivers 2 is launching on Xbox, a collaboration seems pretty likely. Remember, Helldivers 2 already surprised us with a Killzone crossover, so this might be another one of those themed events.
The timing fits too, the crossover content might arrive alongside the Xbox launch later this month. While the trailer doesn’t show any new gear or weapons, if it follows the pattern of past crossovers, players could get themed armor, capes, and weapons inspired by Halo.
What’s cool is that Helldivers 2 is getting some unexpected praise, too. The Chinese Embassy recently applauded the game’s “Heart of Democracy” update for promoting global unity, as players worldwide team up to defend cities like Shanghai from alien threats. That’s kinda heartwarming.
