Helldivers 2 is updating how its special editions handle Premium Warbond unlocks, with a new item called the Warbond Token arriving on August 26th, 2025. This change aims to prevent players from accidentally purchasing duplicate Warbonds and gives more flexibility in choosing which Premium Warbond to unlock.
Players who buy the HELLDIVERS 2: Super Citizen Edition or the Super Citizen Edition Upgrade will receive a Warbond Token instead of the previous Steeled Veterans Warbond. This token allows unlocking any Premium Warbond offered in the game, rather than being tied to a specific one. It’s a neat fix for those who might have bought the same Warbond twice by mistake.
Wondering if you can buy the Warbond Token separately? Not exactly. The token won’t be sold on its own, but players can still purchase Premium Warbonds individually within the game as usual.
For those who already have the standard edition and purchased the Steel Veterans Warbond, it might be worth waiting until the update hits in August before upgrading to the Super Citizen Edition. That way, you can pick a different Warbond to unlock with the token.
Once you have the updated edition or upgrade after August 26th, the Warbond Token will appear in your Helldivers 2 account the next time you log in and reach the shiphub. To check if it’s there, open the game menu and look at any Premium Warbond. If the button says “Claim Premium Warbond“ instead of “Buy Premium Warbond,” you have the token ready to use. Clicking it will prompt a confirmation to unlock your chosen Warbond.
Here’s a quick summary of the editions and how the Warbond Token fits in:
- HELLDIVERS 2 Standard Edition
- HELLDIVERS 2 Super Citizen Edition – will replace Steeled Veterans Warbond with the Warbond Token
- HELLDIVERS 2 Super Citizen Edition Upgrade – will also have the Warbond Token instead of Steeled Veterans Warbond
For anyone new to the game, grabbing an edition soon is recommended; your team might need you out there! Yikes, right?
Have you already purchased the Steel Veterans Warbond, or are you considering an upgrade?
