Gundam Evolution to End Service on November 29, 2023

In an official announcement on the Gundam Evolution website, Kazuya Maruyama, Executive Producer for the free-to-play multiplayer first-person shooter game, stated that the service would be terminated on November 29, 2023 (PST). Launched on PC and consoles in 2022, the game successfully merged the worlds of first-person shooters and the beloved Gundam franchise but struggled to maintain a service satisfying its player base.

Bandai Namco Online thanked their fans and players for the support, expressing regret over the game’s conclusion. The producer assured that updates would continue to roll out despite the imminent shutdown, allowing players to enjoy the game to the fullest. Season 6, featuring a new unit and two maps, is set to launch on August 23 (PDT), followed by the final season, introducing another new unit and a map on October 25 (PDT).

To aid transparency, the team will further discuss the end-of-service schedule, in-game changes, and FAQs in the Mission Briefing Final, a live stream event scheduled for July 21 (PDT) at 11:00 PM.

From July 26, 2023 (PDT) at 6:00 PM, the sales and updates of EVO Coins, EC Pod Limited, EC Pods, CAP Pods, and Ticket Pods will cease. Players cannot make new purchases but can use any EVO Coins they currently own until the service ends. The company also clarified that it wouldn’t provide refunds or returns for previously purchased EVO Coins, items, or paid services.

Despite halting EVO Coins sales, Bandai Namco Online will introduce more ways to earn Capital Points through login bonuses, events, and campaigns, allowing players to unlock and experience new units. The developer confirmed that no new items purchasable solely with EVO Coins would be added.

Season 6 and 7 updates promise an increase in Capital Points earned through gameplay, ensuring players can unlock new units without purchasing EVO Coins. Ranked matches will continue as usual, but players will not be able to earn titles in Season 7 due to the service’s end.

The game will cease to be playable from 5:00 PM on November 29, 2023 (PST), with all in-game items, including EVO Coins, becoming unusable.

Maruyama stressed that although the game’s end of service is imminent, the development and administrative teams are dedicated to ensuring players can enjoy Gundam Evolution until the last moment. As the end-of-service schedule is subject to change, players are encouraged to check the release notes and tune into the official Mission Briefing Final live stream on July 21 (PDT) at 11:00 PM for the latest updates. The stream can be accessed on the official Gundam Evolution YouTube channel.
