Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier told listeners on the Button Mash podcast that GTA 6 may not yet be content complete. Schreier said the team was still finishing missions and levels and deciding what will make it into the final game. He linked his comments to a podcast episode, which is available on Spotify.
Schreier’s direct words emphasize the uncertainty. He said, “The last I heard, it was still not content complete.“ He added that while the project feels more grounded than earlier 2025 and May 2026 targets, “It’s really hard to say right now, and I don’t think anyone at Rockstar can tell you, with 100% certainty, that they will make it out in November.“
The reporting lays out the usual milestone flow, feature complete comes first, then content complete, then bug fixing. Even after the title reaches bug-fix mode, teams sometimes still try to squeeze new pieces into the build. Schreier noted Rockstar has a fiscal-year buffer with the company’s year ending March 31, which gives the studio some runway if more work is needed. Rockstar’s track record shows it will delay a release rather than ship something it considers unfinished.
Highlights
- Schreier says the game may not be content complete yet and teams are still finalizing missions and levels.
- GTA 6 moved from an initial 2025 window to May 2026, and is currently set for November 16, 2026.
- Rockstar has a fiscal-year buffer through March 31, 2027, which gives the studio flexibility if it needs extra time.
What remains unknown is whether Rockstar will use that buffer and delay the November date. Schreier did not declare an imminent delay, only that certainty isn’t possible right now. Players hoping for a final confirmation will have to wait for an official update from Rockstar.
