Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be delayed until May 26, 2026. Initially aiming for a late 2025 release, the developers have now announced the new date, citing the need for extra time to meet quality expectations.
The announcement came on May 2, 2025, with Rockstar expressing gratitude for fans’ support and patience. They stated, “We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game.”
Rockstar emphasized their commitment to delivering a game that exceeds expectations, explaining that the delay is necessary to achieve the desired level of quality.
The delay was confirmed just before Take-Two’s May earnings call, a date many fans had marked for potential updates or a new trailer. Previously, the publisher had been confident about a fall 2025 release, but CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged that a 2026 release was possible while promising an “unmatched entertainment experience.”
