GTA 6 may still hit hard, but Lester’s actor thinks the world has changed the joke
Jay Klaitz, who played Lester in GTA 5, said Rockstar's next satire will land in a very different climate and may not feel as shocking as earlier entries.

Jay Klaitz, the actor behind Lester in GTA 5, said GTA 6 may not hit the same way its predecessors did because the real world has become stranger than the series ever was. He made the comments in an interview with El Dorado, where he still described the game as massive in scope and impact.
Klaitz said that even though Rockstar’s next crime epic will still be “still fucking GTA,” the gap between the game’s satire and everyday reality is much smaller now than it was when GTA 5 arrived 13 years ago. That, he suggested, could take some of the punch out of the first big reaction to the new game.
The setting itself gives Rockstar a lot to work with. GTA 6 takes place in the modern state of Leonida, a Florida-inspired world built around Vice City, the Everglades, the Keys, and other rural areas. If you want a broader look at what Rockstar has already shown, our earlier coverage on the game’s world and release plans is here: GTA 6’s release timing and development status.
Rockstar’s first trailer already leaned hard into Florida chaos, from packed parties to alligators in places they absolutely should not be. Klaitz said that kind of material can still work, but the line between absurd satire and current headlines is a lot thinner now. He also allowed that he could be wrong and said there will still be plenty of commentary and satire in the finished game.
Whatever shape the final script takes, GTA 6 still has plenty of room to land a nasty joke or two. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram.
