GTA 5’s Next-Gen PC Update Revealed: Ray Tracing and More!

Get ready for ray tracing and immersive audio in GTA 5 on PC.

Grand Theft Auto 5, the sprawling crime epic that won’t quit, is gearing up to hit a new milestone on PC. Rockstar Games has finally spilled the beans about its upcoming Next-Gen Update, scheduled for release on March 4th, and it’s nothing short of a visual feast for players. Buckle up, folks, this isn’t your average patch!

The update promises to deliver shiny new features, including support for Ray Tracing Reflections, Shadows, Real-Time Global Illumination (RTGI), and Ray-Traced Ambient Occlusion (RTAO). These enhancements, previously exclusive to consoles, will turn the already stunning visuals of GTA 5 into something even more breathtaking. Who wouldn’t want to see Los Santos lit up like never before?

The excitement doesn’t stop there! Those rocking NVIDIA or AMD graphics cards’ll also be treated to support for NVIDIA DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3.0. These technologies are set to give gamers smoother performance without sacrificing quality. You know how crucial this can be if you’ve ever been stuck in a frame rate slump during an intense chase scene.

The team at Rockstar has also announced improvements under the hood, including support for DirectStorage. What does that mean? Faster loading times when using SSDs! Say goodbye to long waits as you dive into action; this change alone could revolutionize how we experience the game.

Suppose you’re wondering whether your rig can handle these upgrades, fret not! The minimum requirements are relatively modest: an Intel Core i7 4770 or AMD FX 9590 paired with 8GB of RAM alongside an NVIDIA GTX 1630 or AMD Radeon RX 6400 will get you started—albeit without those snazzy RT effects.

If you’re aiming higher (and let’s face it, why wouldn’t you?), Rockstar recommends stepping things up with an Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 with a hearty dose of 16GB RAM and either an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon RX 6600XT. Don’t forget, you’ll need around 105GB of free disk space.

You can check out all the details about this imminent update on Rockstar’s official page here.
