Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Yotei has opened strong in Europe, and that early momentum is prompting fresh conversation about what the studio might do next. Sales data from the GSD European charts, reported by TheGameBusiness, shows Ghost of Yotei debuting at #2 behind EA Sports FC, a launch performance that lines up with how Ghost of Tsushima started in 2020. That result made headlines because it represents Sony’s biggest single-title launch since Spider-Man 2 and even outpaced titles like Helldivers 2.
Studio head Brian Fleming told VGC that Sucker Punch remains focused as a single-project studio, which limits what the team can take on next. Fleming said the studio can only do one major thing at a time and must pick the best idea to dedicate itself to. That comment set off a wave of social chatter pushing for a return to Sly Cooper, a franchise that hasn’t seen a new entry in about two decades. The calls for a Sly revival are loud online, but the studio’s own focus on concentrated work means any return would be a significant commitment.
PS5 lifetime sales are lower than the PS4’s peak, and a higher launch price for Yotei complicates comparisons. Whatever Sucker Punch chooses, Fleming’s comments make the studio’s limits clear; they will focus on one big project and polish it. That commitment matters because it frames what options Sony might actually give them next.
