Ghost of Yotei’s physical release has topped the UK retail charts this week, according to early data reported on X. The Game Business’ Chris Dring indicates the samurai sequel beat EA Sports FC 26 in physical sales, and sold roughly three times as many boxed copies as Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 on Switch.
The UK boxed launch for Ghost of Yotei is really, really good. It is No.1, which means it beat the second week of EA Sports FC 26 (!) and sold almost 3x what Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 on Switch did.
I don’t report on physical charts much these days, but I thought this notable

At the same time, the retail debut for Ghost of Yotei was about 40% lower than the opening week for Ghost of Tsushima. It is essential to note that physical sales now represent only a small proportion of the market, as digital distribution has grown substantially in recent years. Sucker Punch’s earlier release coincided with the peak of the pandemic, which impacted retail figures.
Sony typically does not publish sales totals unless a first-party title surpasses major records, as happened with God of War Ragnarok and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. That means these early UK retail numbers offer a limited view of the game’s overall performance.
