Sucker Punch confirmed in a PlayStation Blog post that Ghost of Yōtei Legends will launch on March 10 as part of patch 1.5. The DLC is free for everyone who owns the base game. Legends focuses on cooperative play against supernatural versions of the Yōtei Six. Two mission types are available at launch and a third will arrive in April. PlayStation Plus is required to play online.
Survival is a four-player mode that pits teams against escalating waves across one of four maps. Each map features a territory-control layer tied to Blessings and Curses. Holding control activates a Blessing that benefits the team and losing control triggers a Curse that increases difficulty. Sucker Punch says each map will have unique Blessings and Curses to vary runs.
Story missions are designed for two players and total twelve. After every set of three Story missions the DLC unlocks an Incursion. An Incursion is a four-player assault on a stronghold associated with a member of the Yōtei Six and ends with a boss battle.
The April update will add a Raid, which Sucker Punch describes as the toughest content in Legends and will pit players against the Dragon and Lord Saito. Legends offers four playable classes. Every class carries a katana and a ranged weapon by default, with specializations as follows. Samurai uses the ōdachi. Archer uses the spear. Mercenary fights with dual katana. Shinobi uses the kusarigama.
The mode has been compared to Ghost of Tsushima Legends from 2020, and Sucker Punch said it considers Atsu’s story in Ghost of Yōtei to be finished while not ruling out possible future story content. For background on the game’s launch run, see Ghost of Yotei goes gold.
