GamerLegion has bounced back nicely after a tough exit at the FISSURE Playground quarter-finals by securing a 2-0 victory against Complexity in their opening match at Cologne. This win might boost their confidence, especially after an impressive showing on Inferno, a map they haven’t had much success on recently.
They took Inferno 13-3, which is quite the turnaround considering GamerLegion had a 2-6 record on that map in their previous eight attempts. Sebastian “Tauson” Tauson Lindelof played a huge role here, pulling off three clutch wins in the first half that stopped Complexity from gaining any momentum, despite some shaky moments defending the A site.
On Nuke, GamerLegion cleaned up on the CT side to win 13-10. Complexity’s recent record on Nuke hasn’t been great either, standing at 1-4 in their last five matches on that map. Jeremy “Kursy” Gast, the relatively new AWPer for GamerLegion, showed promise, especially when switching to the rifle. It appears that the team is gradually helping him become accustomed to the challenges of tier-one play.
Interestingly, GamerLegion’s coach seemed happy about Overpass being added back to the map pool but chose to ban it in this match. That decision probably makes sense since there wasn’t much time between the Playground event and Cologne starting. However, they might have to face Overpass soon, as their next upper bracket match is against Virtus.pro, who are likely to force a map ban or pick situation involving it.
Match Highlights
- GamerLegion’s A site falls to pistols again
- ztr 1v2 closes out Inferno
- REZ and PR put together 2v4 on Nuke
It’s always interesting to see how newer players like Kursy adapt to the top level. Do you think he will become a key player for GamerLegion in future events? And how will the team handle the pressure of facing Virtus.pro next? I’m curious to see how this unfolds because they’ve shown some solid potential.
