BLAST Open London 2025 turned into a tidy night for G2 as they took a 2-0 win over Liquid on 28th August 2025 – the scoreboard barely told the whole story. G2 set the pace early and never really gave Liquid a chance to establish a foothold.
Map one, Train, was a fast lesson in control. Liquid managed a few rounds on the T side, but G2 flipped momentum as soon as they hit CT, with huNter- pulling a 1v3 clutch to swing rounds back. Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko still impressed on Train with a strong rating, but G2’s teamwork won the day.
One highlight came when Matúš “MATYS” Šimko ripped off a Desert Eagle quad-kill that crushed Liquid’s momentum and helped G2 close the map 13 – 8. What happened to Liquid’s defense in those late rounds? It just fell apart at the wrong moment.
Inferno was a different story – G2 put the foot down early. Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa was unreal across the series, ending with a jaw-dropping 2.53 rating and a monstrous half on Inferno that read 9-3 at the break. His 147 ADR and round-swing numbers told the tale: he was the biggest reason this finished quickly.
Liquid tried to answer through Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken, who grabbed a couple of multi-kills early, and Guy “NertZ” Iluz kept them competitive in pockets. Still, G2 tightened rotations, punished mistakes, and closed Inferno 13 – 3 to seal the series 2-0.
Top performers on the winning side included malbsMd with that massive series rating and huNter- delivering steady clutch moments. HeavyGod also had a notable train show. For Liquid, the scoreline hid some good individual plays, but their CT halves crumbled at key times – that pistol flip on Train was brutal.
G2 head into the next round with momentum and a statement to the rest of the bracket. Liquid, meanwhile, is staring at an early exit if they don’t reset fast – there’s no easy road now, and the group gets meaner from here.
