Dune: Awakening has been a bit quiet lately, which left some players wondering what’s next for this live-service survival MMO. Funcom finally broke the silence, apologizing for the communication gap caused by “state mandated” vacations, and dropped a roadmap showing about 10 months of updates to come. It’s a solid way to reassure fans that the game isn’t being left to wither in the sands of Arrakis.
September will bring a free chapter two update alongside the Lost Harvest DLC. Players can expect a new contract chain, fresh quest locations, and plenty of new gear, including weapons, armor, building pieces, and decorations. Character re-customization will also be available, though none of these will affect the endgame just yet.
Looking further ahead, a revamped endgame is planned for the free chapter three update due by March 2026. Along with it comes the Raiders of the Broken Lands DLC, adding new cosmetics. By June 2026, The Water Wars DLC will drop, focusing on the water shipper families battling for control over Arrakis’ polar caps. Water politics on a desert planet? Now that’s a story worth following.
Funcom shared some insight into their monthly workflow. They gather player feedback, fix bugs internally, and then push changes to the Test server before going live. July was a headache with cheaters and item duplication glitches popping up almost weekly. Thousands of cheaters were banned, and many exploits were patched, but it sounds like a game of whack-a-mole that won’t end anytime soon.
Communication suffered because some developers were on their well-earned vacations mandated by law, leaving customer service and community teams without immediate access to the devs for answers. Kinda understandable, but yeah, it left the player base in the dark for a bit.
Fans hoping for some epic sandworm riding will have to keep waiting. Funcom hasn’t promised it yet, but it’s been mentioned as a desirable feature. For now, players can check out the complete roadmap on Steam and prepare for a year packed with fresh content and improvements.
