Frostpunk 2 is inviting its community to join a modding contest that could change the way you experience the game, and there’s a cool $10,000 prize pool waiting for the most creative modders. If you’ve ever dreamed of leaving your mark on the Frostpunk universe, now’s your chance to jump in.
11 Bit Studios teamed up with mod.io to host this contest, eager to spotlight the best mods for Frostpunk 2. You’ll have until August 22 to submit your creations, with winners revealed on September 1. The devs are pretty pumped about how the modding community has grown since the game’s release and want to see what new twists players can add to the world of Frostpunk 2.
There are several categories, including Best City Mechanics Mod and Best Politics Mod, each offering a custom AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT Frostpunk edition GPU as a prize. Honourable mentions snag an 11 Bit goodie pack, but the big draw is the leading award: $10,000 cash for the mod that combines creativity with technical polish. Plus, you’ll get the bragging rights and the chance to have your mod officially recognized within the Frostpunk 2 universe.
Before you start dreaming about what to build (or spend that prize money on), keep in mind you need to upload your mod to mod.io and tag it with #fp2modcontest so the judges can find your entry. If you already have a mod out there, just upload it again with the proper tag.
The jury is comprised of the dev team, mod.io representatives, and experienced Frostpunk modders. They’ll judge based on creativity, playability, and, most importantly, fun. The devs are encouraging wild ideas, think new stories, mechanics, or even swapping snow for sand or dinosaurs. Honestly, who wouldn’t want dinosaurs in Frostpunk?
There are already some quirky mods out there, like the No More Cyan Housing mod that removes the “ugly cyan colour” or the Political Overhaul, which adds more laws for your citizens to grumble about. But I’m eager to see something even crazier take shape. Imagine a swamp with ogres or an insane difficulty mode that tests your survival skills.
